Are they just labels ? Some can be applied to what amounts to a pile of old tat.

Less often, they apply to collectible ,wearable and highly coveted pieces from the past .

These items are becomingly increasingly popular , and are reminiscent of a bygone era . They generally offer , superb tailoring , gorgeous fabrics , unusual design , and unique pieces . Whats not to like ?

Many recycled boutiques have sprung up , with these items gracing their shelves.

Op shops , grandma’s closet and fete’s can reveal undiscovered treasures .

A rich, and varied source of clothing, is hard to find as more competition, for pieces occurs .

Long time bower birds , ie munters , are finding their traditional hunting grounds well picked over, or depleted .

Price plays a big part too, as stocks of preloved items are usually cheaper than designer boutiques . That is, of course, unless a recycled retailer has hit on the source , and gathered , and repriced, the items , in their more up – market boutiques .

Its no coincidence , that locations are becoming closely guarded secrets, traded between friends, or passed down from mother to daughter !

Ditch the kids , pack hubby off to work , conduct a quick 15 minute whip round the laborious household chores , and the day is yours .

Kick back on the couch , something hot and steaming in your hand , locate  the 4 device remote control , and enjoy . Back to back Kerri A Kennel , Years wasted of our Lives,  and the Bold and the Ridiculous , for the next 3 + hours .

Yeah right , by the time Munters , have cleaned the house top to toe , after the holiday onslaught , completed 15 loads of washing , bought enough groceries to feed a small African nation, for a year , and ironed clothes  equal to a days equivalent at  a small industrial laundry, Munters are dead on their feet.

Movie dates , shows , shopping , coffee shop catch ups , are all a pleasant memory , as  reality bites,  and real life takes over .

Whew !, at least its a relief to get back to work , where everything is quiet , orderly , and it is generally a kid free zone .

Family ‘ s , bless em ” , what would we do without them?

Last day of the Financial Year .

End of financial year woes.

Its time to get receipts , expenses , accounts , invoices , etc gathered and issued for the taxman .

Looking on the bright side,  it can be the final day of sales , in the shops.

Retailers , wanting to avoid annual stock-take, will savagely discount today .

So munters , put your tax issues on the back burner , for today at least , and get out there and get shopping !

The skys are grey , the winds blowing all day , its raining , must be winter in Melbourne!.

It can be a bit depressing with the cold , wet and wind but , munters ,think of England .

This is their daily scenario , that , and no showers.

In Melbourne, there is lots to do in the colder months .

Slow food, art shows , theatre and stage , movies , footy , open fires and shopping .

And remember , just when you think it can’t get any colder , wetter , windier , there will be an exceptionally, sunny day , reminding us that Spring, is on the way .

We have already passed the shortest day, and are nearly at the end of June , traditionally the coldest month!.

Hang in there Munters, we will appreciate the warmer weather ,all the more when it arrives.

And remember , when all else fails, there is always shopping.!

Julia Gillard, is Australia’s newest Prime Minister .

Julia , is a 48 year old,red haired, unmarried ,Welsh born woman , from Melbourne’s working class west , and an inspirational  munter.

This , is a history making decision , in Australia’s political landscape .

Its a lesson to girls / women / munters everywhere.

Anything is possible .Strange things can happen . Nurture and believe in those dreams !

Its getting increasingly hard, to get around town quickly , and to be able to park, upon arrival .

A small , low powered, scooter, may be an option, to transport Munters.

Easy to park,  and maintain .

An intensive driving course , is required .

Protective clothing, is essential , including the wearing ,of a helmet .

Practical munters , who can ride a pushbike , cycle , pedallie , wheelie etc , should be able to manage,  a scooter .

Its about balance , learning a new skill, using  a practical nature , being safe  ,  owning the ability to try new things , having  the nerve to get out there in traffic .

Not for everyone , but worth a thought, as Melbourne’s roads become increasingly impassable , with vehicular traffic congestion, and finite parking spaces.

Breeze past the road hogs with a smile on your dial,  to your next shopping / lunch destination.

You’ll be able to climb out of the protective clothing , and rearrange the helmet hair , with time on your side .

Not Scooter Wear

Despite previous advice , exhorting Munters to get up and watch the World Cup , Australia’s Socceroos were thrashed , in their first game by Germany , 4-0.

In hindsight , some poor decisions were made .

Not the least of which , was the style , of the Australian , team jumper , jersey , guernsey .

Fair enough , have the Australian Coat of Arms , but the footy jumper , jersey , guernsey , was a bit on the drab side .

Why, weren’t they playing in a beautifully crafted , piece of apparel , like the modern day , AFL football jumper ?

I blame their lack of success on the jumper !

A Stylish Football Jumper

The Socceroos , play Germany , in their World Cup Match, at 4.30am EST Monday morning.

The tournament , is being held in Durban , South Africa, and will be televised ,into Australian homes.

Fortunately, for many munters , it is a public holiday Monday .Many, will be able to go back to bed, after watching the match.

Whilst , not normally, a promoter of sporting events ,the Football World Cup ,only comes around, once every four years .

This , is a one in four chance, for munters everywhere , to watch it, and if the experts and fans , are to be believed, the Australian Socceroos ,have a good chance of success.

Get , into the green and gold supporter gear , warm the set , cool the tinnies ( or champagne, for most munters! ) and get barracking.

Winter Time, and the weather is breezy .

Treat yourself, and your nearest and dearest, to a long , leisurely , Saturday Lunch .

Many upmarket restaurants, eg .Grossi Florentino’s Grill in the Melb CBD do a great traditional Italian lunch in traditional charming surroundings.

Ask for a window table with a street view of the ” Paris ” end of Bourke St.

For something a bit more ” funky ” try one of the restaurants at Transport Hotel, Federation Square, corner Flinders and Swanston Streets, Melbourne .

Or for a touch of retro go to the Provincial Hotel , Brunswick St , Fitzroy for and a pub lunch .

People watch the groovy young things in ” Vintage ” Fitzroy.

Wherever you go, sit back ,relax in good company . put your feet and up enjoy .

Good food , good wine , good company , good laughter .

All good for the sole and body = happy munter .

Little Black Dress to " do " Lunch

There has been much discussion about the Queens Birthday Public Holiday, celebrated this Monday .

This is not her actual birthday , which falls in April .

Many question the relevance of supporting an archaic institution , of British Royalty , and celebrating its leaders birthday.

The June long weekend (Queens Birthday weekend) is the opening of the ski season and this runs through to early October with late Spring skiing (if the snow holds).

First snows in Victorian Alps (usually) good for tourist drives but may not be enough for skiing.

AFL Football matches are played , on every day of the long weekend .

Munters , no matter what they do with their 3 day holiday , will be in a relaxed , party mood , knowing they have the Monday holiday to recover .
