All the leaves are falling
All the leaves are falling and its another beautiful Autumn day , must be Melbourne dreamin’ along its merry way . Apologies to the beach boys but the glorious weather produces a variety of typically autumn Melbourne activities . Observed in my local suburb whilst en route to the NGV were an auction , a garage sale and a wedding . All three could be occurring in any city at any time but they are particularly popular in Melbourne in autumn on a Saturday afternoon . Autumn weather is most reliable for producing warm , sunny ,wind free afternoons that are perfect for all three activities.
With the autumn weather comes the commencement of another great Melbourne activity , the footy season . Whether its your local junior amateur side or the AFL competition it begins this weekend . The sherrin will be bounced on Thursday night at the MCG for the first time in 2010 with all the other games including including amateur afl leagues to follow. Dust off the scarf , pull the jumper , jersey , guernsey from storage and get barracking . Ah I can almost smell the aroma of the 4 and 20 pie and sauce now and hear the roar of the crowd as the Saints kick another goal . Melbourne in Autumn , its a winner .
