Scandal at the Logies

Age journalist Catherine Deveny has been sacked from her job as columnist  because she made inappropriate comments about guests at the Logies .

Apparently eyebrows were raised higher than Bert Newtons hairline when Ms Deveny , wisecracking during an impromptu coverage of the event,  made a comment of a  sexual nature about youthful entertainer ” Bindi Irwin “.

Inappropriate costumes , tacky hairdos and trowelled on make up aside , the comment still had the ability to shock attendees , and onlookers alike.

Ms Deveny an experienced journalist and  comedian had been perceived to overstep the boundary of good taste . Her behaviour was deemed as inappropriate and unforgivable.

I blame the appalling decor of the Casino.

All rationale flies out the window when patrons cop an eyeful of that ” purple haze ” .

History repeats itself . Look at Fev in 2009 when he also made a huge faux


pas at the Brownlow Medal ceremony held in the Casino.

Coffee

Is ” lets do coffee ” the new euphemism for ” lets have a drink “?

Probably not . However  the proliferation of coffee shops and the patrons drinking coffee in them is massive .

Every shopping strip  boasts at least one coffee shop with tables outside in Melbourne’s good weather.

Men , women and children are at tables drinking coffee. The menu  caters for the young with baby – chino. Mums are offered soy latte or skinny version sof their favourite tipple to help with weight control or allergy maintenance.

Men conduct business meetings over a short black .

Young people of all ages go for  ‘just coffee’. They talk , meet , plan and discuss . Its a cheap way for cash strapped students to meet without hefty bills in a place conducive to open discussion. Most can afford the price of a latte’
